Site Update

Well, I finally added a much needed hit counter. I've wondered for a while if anyone is visiting my site. I guess I'll find out soon enough. I haven't been driving very much lately. It's just too hot to go anywhere. It hit 109 degrees today in Porterville, but it's hot everywhere in California. Yesterday it got up to 113 in LA, and 120 in Death Valley. Old Blue does have A/C, but I'd rather not push it--she is a 22 year old car now, with 93,400 miles. I went to a baseball game a week ago in Visalia about 30 miles away. The Visalia Oaks (the Arizona D-backs Class A affiliate) even won. That was the first time I went to a professional game where the team I was rooting for actually won; it was a pretty bad personal streak. I hate doing timing belts, so I'm just going to take Old Blue in to a mechanic in two weeks. The timing belt's hurt me before, so I'd just rather not take any risks. That's about it. I'll start driving and working on Old Blue more when it cools down a bit. Maybe I should go to the lake...

Cruise Night Fever

I know you're probably getting sick of seeing more of my car at car shows, but it's by far the best place to get good car pics. Old Blue's looking pretty good. Not much has been changed; really anything that I can think of. She's got just over 93,350 miles on the clock to date, and got her oil changed a while ago (did I already say the?). She's going in for some service pretty soon, though. Time for a new timing belt. This one is getting close to both 6 years and 60,000 miles, so I'd better replace it. I'd do it myself, but it's a real pain in the butt--you practically have to take the engine apart to get to the damn thing. I saw a really nice supercharger for the 2.2 liter carbureted engines like mine on eBay, but it was wwwaaayyyy too expensive. I think the guy wanted $750 for it. It was really nice; it included the intake manifold, new valved cover, everything but the carburetor. Still, that was just too much money. Somebody else bought it up really quick, though. I think it was only listed for a few hours (buy-it-now). Well, I'll try to one later. That would have been so nice though...
